WINES OF SAINT LOUIS
THE "TERROIR" The vines are located on the ancient banks of the Tarn River and the soil here, called "Boulbènes" is very typical of the South West of France. This positioning near the river banks also provided an extremely favorable climate that is ideal for the development of certain grape varieties.
VINES GROWING We grow our vines respecting a sustainable and reasonable viticulture. The vines are monitored and cared for using environmental techniques under the control of ECOCERT. The vines are grown with grass between rows so that the use a chemical weed killer is never needed. Also, to protect our environment, Chateau Saint Louis uses a climate monitoring software to analyze the risk of disease for the vines. Then, at the time of probable sickness, they are able to intervene and use weaker doses. By reasoning out what treatments are necessary using this software they are able to use fewer products.

FOR OUR RED WINES The king variety of Fronton wines, but also at Château Saint Louis is the Pinot Saint Georges or the Négrette.
OUR WHITE WINES Ali Mahmoudi chose in 1992 to plant 5 hectares of Chardonnay Blanc. He is the first one in the small region of Tarn and Garonne to do so. This famous variety from Bourgogne region is now well adapted to the microclimate and soil of the estate and is producing a remarkable white wine and a sparking wine called Prêt en Bulles which surprises everyone.

LAST HARVEST CHARDONNAY DOMAINE SAINT LOUIS COUNTRY WINE COMTE TOLOSAN Sweet white wine; vinified and aged into new oak barrels. During harvest period, a fog surrounds the vines every night and disappears on the morning. During the day, the sun dries grapes of Chardonnay. The""pourriture noble" botritys cinerea fungus comes, the grapes dry and it is time then to harvest in the mid-october. This wine is only created during the best vintages (1996, 1998, 2001). The over maturity allows the grapes to have a lot of natural sugar. A part of this sugar will be transformed into alcohol during fermentation; the rest will stay in the wine to obtain a sweet wine, with a golden dress. Tasting: The nose reveals aromas of dry fruits, apricots, dry figs, honey and citrus peel. The mouth is round and balanced. It will reveal its best aromas served very cold, with foie gras or strong cheeses. Blend: 100% Chardonnay Late harvest. Age of the vines: planted in 1992. Vinification and ageing: 11 months into new oak barrels, than 1 year in bottles. Average production: 2000 bottles of 50 cl.
