Rosé 2009 :

First vintage, certified organic, is for sale.  This wine won a bronze medal at the Independent Winegrower Competition in Paris in 2010, a bronze medal at the National Organic Wine Competition in Paris in 2010, and a silver medal at the World Organic Wine Competition in 2011.

   

Château Saint Louis 2008 :

The entire 2008 vintage of Château Saint Louis has been bottled, for only one time, and is refined in the warehouses of the Estate, refrigerated to 16°C.  The free tour and tasting are offered every day until 7:00 p.m. and on weekends by appointment.

This vintage is fruitier than the others, and it may be enjoyed at a cooler temperature, between 14-15°C.


                                      

The Château Saint Louis 2008 Rouge is the final wine from the conversion period to being Certified Organic ECOCERT.  One may find this vintage in organic shops and outlets.

Purchased in 1991 by Marie Cécile and Ali Mahmoudi, the Château Saint-Louis vineyard has undergone some profound changes.  The wines from the estate have been largely rewarded each year since the acquisition of this property by this diverse couple.  Today, a driveway scented by roses leads you into an enchanting environment, between the sounds of fountains and corks.  Combining regional and Persian styles, this château is an ideal setting for making wine, and also for private and professional receptions.  At the heart of a 35-hectare vineyard, Ali Mahmoudi is pleased to receive guests with generosity and joviality in this place where two cultures meet.  “The Spirit of Saint-Louis” was born from this meeting.  The goal is to help you discover and enjoy the vineyards, the facilities, and the wine.  Over the vintages and seasons, the team works the vineyard and the wine with enthusiasm and passion.  Starting in September 2005, without having made any official commitment, the entire vineyard was converted to be treated according to the regulations of organic farming.  Then, in September 2006, a formal commitment was made towards organic farming, under the supervision and ongoing consultation of Mr. Daniel Noël, a recognized expert in the field.  The grass cover between the rows of vines has changed, and no plant protection product disturbs the natural balance of the soil and the vines.

A Visitor from the States

Visiting the Chateau Saint Louis as an intern for July 2008 is Stacie Jo Seaman, a student from the United States of America.
Currently, she is attending the University of Missouri-Columbia and will graduate with her Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Business Management there in May 2009.
Before coming to Saint Louis, Stacie studied at the Engineering School of PURPAN in Toulouse during the month of June. There she learned the basics of wine and agriculture production in France and has now come to stay with Mahmoudi family to expand her knowledge of viniculture.
During the month she is here, Stacie will have the opportunity to learn from M. Ali Mahmoudi and the rest of the team at Saint Louis about basic duties on a vineyard, how the vineyard is managed and also participate in different marketing and business tasks.

DOMAIN SAINT LOUIS IS GOING GREEN

Since 2006 the Domain Saint Louis has been following regulations to become completely organic. They will be officially recognized as organic in 2009, when they have been practicing for a consistent 3 harvests.
Currently though all of their wines are grown only from vines that are treated following organic regulations. This is an important goal for the Domain Saint Louis, who feels that organically cultures provide premium, natural wine and at the same time they restore the land to its natural state while continuing to protect our environment.

The bud bursts of the vines came very late this year. Rain was scarce at the beginning of April and it was not possible to make reserves. We would have preferred more rain before the bud burst follow-up by a dry period, in order to avoid diseases.

ÉLU PARMI LES TÉNORS DE L'ANNÉE

 


 

  HARVEST 2004 AT SAINT LOUIS  
  After a very hot summer in the region, grape reached maturity quite early this year. Therfore, Harvest started August 18th with white grapes: Sauvignon and Chardonnay. After pressing Sauvignon and Chardonnay, we harvest Gamay on the row. Negrette are fine, they are harvested between the end of august and the begining of september. Finally, Cabernet Franc is harvested at the end about a mouth after the beginingst of the harvest, september 18th. 

The average yield this year is 34 hl/ha in AOC Fronton.

Red wines were pressed after 3 weeks of maceration during which we did many pumping over and "delestages".

The white wine is aromatic, red wines are concentrated, with a low acidity. The blend of the different varieties during ageing should reveals the vintage 2003 and the terroir of Fronton.
